ACCENT FAT BLASTER

The accent radio frequency device is a revolutionary new method for treating the soft tissue of the skin. The radio-frequency device works by a controlled heating of fat and collagen under the skin. The mechanism is not too dissimilar to the technology of microwaves, which is used in ordinary cooking, through a very high powered repetition of radio-frequency, the surgeons are now able to heat the underlying tissue in a controlled fashion. The Accent treatments are a new simple method of treatment that does not require local or general anaesthetic. The Accent treatment may be combined with liposuction surgery to enhance the results and for fine tuning. Patients who have had liposuction may also benefit from the Accent treatment.

The Effects

The Accent device produces preferential fat absorption and removal of fat cells, it also induces skin tightening through its collagen modulation and due to the above two combined effects, it may also improve cellulite dimpling of the skin.

Treatment

Treatments are painless and simple with no downtime. Treatments take approximately 15 minutes per area. The Accent device is passed over the skin and the underlying tissue is heated. Using a laser pointed thermometer, the doctors and staff are able to monitor the temperature of the overlying skin. Once the desired temperature of 42 degrees is reached on the surface, this then indicates that the temperature of approximately 65 degrees celcius is reached deep within the fat. Three extra passes are performed at this level of radio-frequency. Treatments are performed on a weekly basis, although there may be a second treatment within the week for the skin tightening effect. Skin tightening is enhanced by using a bipolar hand piece and is particularly useful on the face where there are thin layers of fat and skin contraction is desired. Patients would require, on average, between 4 and 7 treatments.

Costs

The costs vary depending on the number of areas to be treated and start at $300 per site. Treatments are available at Malvern and Glen Waverley.

Applications include cellulite treatment, fat reduction and thinning, skin tightening, acne treatment, post liposuction smoothing, lipoma treatment, volume-metric dermal therapy and facial rejuvenation.
